Half time is a short 10 minuet film that I directed whilst in second year of my degree. I collaborated with a film module and was voted as director as I come up with the basis of the script which was close to my real life. The story was non verbal and based around a man in a wheelchair who had come out of hospital and was getting to grips with every day life. This below is the process I went through to get to the final outcome. Originally I was meant to be set designer so had drawn up a birds eye floor plan of how I wanted the house to be set out. After this I then was pushed into being the director which actually ended up turning out well for me.
This was initially the build of the ‘house’ using flat boards, drills, old sinks, pretend cupboards and hallways and doors. I aided the actor in how to effectively look convincing in a wheelchair, and also decided on the colours of everything. Such power. During filming, despite being freezing, I worked with my fellow film makers to create the best shots and lighting and sound that we could. Despite our actor being mainly a theatre actor he had done amazingly well at his role.
